ACCA - The global body for professional accountants

Overview

A partner in a consulting firm or financial firm is a senior position. Originally, these businesses were set up as legal partnerships in which the partners were entitled to a share of the profits of the enterprise. The name has remained even though many of these entities are now incorporated as companies. Sometimes senior employees of the firm may have the title "partner" (eg "salaried partner") to indicate a profit sharing status.

Entry and progression

Partners are usually experienced finance professionals and registered auditors some of whom may also have considerable consultancy or corporate sector experience.

Career progression in this role can be supported by developing and demonstrating professional behaviours. Take a look at the behavioural competencies in the Competency Framework to reflect on the type of behaviours which are useful for partners.
